Artistic Background


Julie Schmidt Andreasen is a choreographer, dancer and teacher based in Copenhagen and London. She works inter-disciplinary and collaboratively with dance, fine art, film and music. She creates for theatre, museums and natural environments nationally and internationally. She graduated from London Contemporary Dance School with a Bachelor of Arts with Honour. Her work has been shown at Zealous X Exhibition, Wandsworth Fringe festival, Resolution, (UK), Young Choreographers, Land-shape Land art festival, Skagens Museum, Johannes Larsen Museum, Kirsten Kjærs Museum (DK), Greensboro Dance Film Festival (USA) and Palladium Theatre (SE). She danced in pieces by Itamar Serussi, Rick Nodine, Grounded Dance Company, Sasha Roubicek, Ari Rosenzweig, Mansoor Ali, Mara Vivas. She has performed choreography and improvisation in dance pieces, films, opera, concerts, live art installations, and the Olympic Opening Ceremony, 2012. Julie has taught in educational institutions such as Morley College and Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School, kindergartens, elderly homes and schools of gymnastics. She is currently associated artist at Børns Møde med Kunsten. She attended residencies at Clarence Mews (UK), Slagteriet (DK), Lieux Communes (BE) and has received several grants.
